En el post que os propongo hoy, os muestro un breve fragmento del recomendable libro "Cuando éramos los mejores" by Larry Bird, Earvin Johnson Jr.

Hoy os muestro un nuevo fragmento del recomendable libro escrito por susprotagonistas Larry Bird y Magic Johnson recreando su paralela historia en la NBA. El libro se titula "Cuando éramos los mejores", y en este fragmento se habla de la poca expectativa que despertaba el All Star Game en esa época y las pocas ganar que tenía Larry Bird de jugar ese partido:
"Bird se pasó el fin de semana de las estrellas lamentando con Parish y Archibald no haber podido disfrutar de unos días libres. Los Celtics solían embarcarse en una gira por la Costa Oeste después del parón del All-Star, y Bird habría preferido quedarse en casa en lugar de participar en lo que consideraba un evento de segunda fila. «A decir verdad, antes de que Stern se convirtiese en comisionado, el Partido de las Estrellas era una auténtica mierda», concluye."

Michael Jackson's short film for "Billie Jean" was the first of three short films produced for recordings from Thriller, which continues its reign as the biggest selling album of all time with worldwide sales in excess of 105 million as of June 1, 2016 and in December, 2015 became the first ever album to be awarded triple diamond status by the RIAA for US sales alone. The ""Billie Jean"" single reached No. 1 in 10 countries in the spring of 1983, including seven consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 - becoming the second-highest selling single in America that same year.
"Billie Jean" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on April 4, 1983, and Platinum on February 4, 1989. The song won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance - Male, as well as an American Music Award for Favorite Single - Pop/Rock and was also named the Single of the Year on The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll in 1983.
The short film featured a paparazzo attempting to photograph Jackson as he danced through an urban landscape. A specially created set featured steps and sidewalk tiles that lit up underneath Michael's feet. It is here that fans first saw some of Michael's best-known dance moves, such as spinning and landing on his toes. Many of Michael's steps and mannerisms in the video would become forever associated with The King of Pop.
When the chorus hit.he sprung into this dance that was unlike anything I'd ever seen, director Steve Barron recounted of Jackson's choreography in the video. "It was just extraordinary, instinctive. He pulled it all together and turned it into what we saw.The camera literally steamed up, the eyepiece steamed up, because of my heat from what I was seeing." Barron also recalled the crew breaking into spontaneous applause after Michael finished dancing.
The "Billie Jean" short film made history as the first video by a black artist to be played in heavy rotation on MTV, then in its second year. In 1992, the short film was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame. MTV ranked "Billie Jean" as the 35th greatest music video of all time in 1999, one of three entries of Jackson's on the chart alongside "Thriller" and "Beat It."

"Conseguido el enfrentamiento soñado entre Bird y Magic en la final de la NCAA, los dos equipos realizaron el día anterior al partido sus respectivas ruedas de prensa. Los medios nacionales anticiparon que Larry no aparecería, pero les sorprendió ocupando el asiento reservado para él en el estrado. El habitualmente taciturno alero estuvo simpático y afable, si bien algunas de sus respuestas no fueron especialmente locuaces. Por ejemplo, cuando le preguntaron por cómo estaba su pulgar, el autodenominado «Paleto de French Lick» respondió: «Roto». Con la cuestión de qué haría con los cientos de miles de dólares que le esperaban en la NBA, Bird bromeó: «Podría comprarle a todos los del equipo un coche nuevo… y a Brad Miley un tiro en suspensión»."

ASTURIAS EMOTION 4K TIMELAPSE – THE FOUR SEASONS

Asturias Emotion - The 4 Seasons is a timelapse project initiated in late 2020 by photographers David Alvarez Velicia and Juan I. Cuadrado with the aim of showcasing the beauty of the Spanish region of Asturias, exploring its stunning corners throughout the different seasons of the year.
This timelapse project has been much more complex than we initially expected, likely due to our eagerness to capture the best moments in the most beautiful places of Asturias. This is why the time spent on its production, has extended to three years. During this time, we've experienced cold, heat, sleep (a lot of sleep!), we've gotten wet, lost our way, our backs have hurt from carrying equipment, and we've had to handcraft part of our gear. In summary: we've enjoyed it!
In total, we've taken more than 500,000 photographs for the project, of which around 30,000 are part of the final result, and we've spent more than 5,000 hours in the field work. It's been a hard effort, but very rewarding.
Our goal has been to create a video of the highest possible quality that does justice to the beauty of Asturias, and we hope to have achieved it. We've also tried to incorporate innovative or less commonly used techniques in the world of timelapse, such as the use of fisheye lenses, the inclusion of nadir shots, and the application of cinematic techniques like the dolly zoom. For the latter, we designed and built a mechanism that shifts the camera's position on the slider, preventing the front part from being visible.
We also built a macro photography studio for the cover scenes of spring and autumn, consisting of a rotating table, a dual lighting system for plant growth and photography, an irrigation system, and more. Everything automated and controlled with an Arduino.
Many scenes have required very meticulous planning, such as the moonrise behind the 'Elogio del Horizonte' sculpture in Gijón. In this case, being located 2.6 km away from the sculpture, we had to calculate our position with a margin of error of just three meters to ensure the moon was perfectly centered at the right height. In other cases, preparation has been crucial: several days examining the terrain and seeking the best compositions, repeating the scene numerous times until we achieved the right lighting and circumstances. Some scenes we've repeated more than ten times.
We've also paid special attention to sound, with the composition and recording of a soundtrack adapted to each season and the inclusion of voiceovers and environmental effects.
The project follows a dual narrative structure: on one hand, the changing of the seasons, and on the other, within each season, the natural progression of a daily cycle, starting with sunrise and ending with nighttime. This added an extra layer of complexity as it required capturing scenes at specific moments of the day that are more challenging to obtain.
