Best Photos 2005

Each year Time magazine publishes The Best Photos of the Year 2005. About this issue, I have selected the following photographs from total of 24 that you can view at Time online website:

Fire and Water - One storm had passed, but the stately homes and mansions of New Orleans' Garden District had another to contend with on the Sunday after Katrina struck. Blazes raged through the neighborhood, allegedly set by boat-borne looters.

God's Wrath - After the earthquake, eight men paused for evening prayers on the fractures remains of the roof of the main mosque in Balakot. The 7,6-magnitude quake flattened nearly every building in the town.

France On Fire - Anger simmering in poor suburbs of Paris and other cities exploded in three weeks of riots, as youths, like these in Aulnay-sous-Bois, torched cars and buildings.
